No, humans are not special

One assertion you will find in the Bible is the assumption that humans are special. The Bible says that they were created in God’s image. This is wrong, and such a claim is only expressed as such as it comes from humans. Humans wrote the story, but we could lie to ourselves forever until we consider a million other perspectives.

Most people will say that humans are the most intelligent creatures. What other superiority would humans argue around anyway? The claim is not necessarily true. It just depends on the perspective. For instance, a bee could go miles away from its hive, gather nectar, and return many hours later to the same hive without needing a GPS. Humans need a technological invention to do just that. Likewise, they needed to study architecture to construct beautiful houses, yet there were thousands of birds with beautiful nests perfected to the finest details, and doing such did not require studies.

Ask yourself whether, with your advanced intelligence, you would construct such without tools or education. Think about the shelter you would make without tools.

One would wonder what exactly humans would point out to support the claim that God loves them the most and that the rest of the creation was made for them. Without humans, the rest of the creation would still survive. Likewise, humans could survive if most of the creation ceased to exist. After all, an individual uses a negligible proportion of that which exists.

Every creature is special in some way, and such uniqueness is not limited to humans. For instance, if a tortoise were to talk, it would claim to be God’s most beloved creature and put up a valid argument. The creatures live for 150 years! They have a house built on them so they can sleep anywhere and stay safe from predators. Likewise, a duck would make a valid argument considering it walks, flies, and swims with minimal strain. Of the three, humans only walk and need to invent a boat to be comfortable on a lake and a plane to be comfortable in the air. Without such, they would drown or crash to the ground. The duck is covered in beautiful feathers, but humans need to invent clothes not to look funny. The duck is clothed beautifully, while humans don’t really match up.

If humans knew how funny they looked without clothes, they wouldn’t pose an argument against the duck about being God’s most beloved creature. You have to farm to get food, but the duck just needs to dive and catch a fish or a seaweed whose supply is in excess. The duck would die of laughter were it to interpret your claim. It would ask, “how comes your evolution did not clothe you?” The comparison goes on and on, there are so many creatures more favored by nature than self-glorified humans. It is just that the so-called intelligent humans are unable to view reality out of their cocoons.

The bottom line, humans are not special, and the concept of a God who loves them more than he does other creatures to the extent of creating them a heaven to give them a second life while the same is not extended to other animals is simply unfounded.
